Great Personality - Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore
Born on 7th May, 1861 in Kolkata, Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore started writing at a very early age of seven. Tagore was an icon of Indian culture. He wrote poems, novels, short stories, songs, dance, dramas and essays. He had great love for music, in particular, Bengali music. He was Popularly called 'Gurudev' and his songs were popularly known as Rabindrasangeet.
Rabindranath Tagore became the editor of the Magazine 'Bangadarshan.' He won Nobel Prize for his collection of Poems, Gitanjali in 1913. Thus, becoming the first Asian to win a Nobel Prize. He wrote the song 'Jan, Gana, Mana' - our national Anthem.
